Description
The Information Systems team at CMU needed a new way to share updates, opportunities, and events within the IS community. This was our solution.

Background
Lost in the Inbox
Originally, the Information Systems team would share weekly newsletters to the IS community, regarding current news, awards, scholarships, opportunities, and more. however, many of these newsletter would get lost in inboxes, as well as be disregarded and deleted.
The news board was a simplified solution to a complex newsletter that students often ignored more than read. Instead of creating separate weekly newsletters, all important updates and information would, instead, go on the website – reducing platforms and introducing a singular resource.
Simple Sketches
The Process
Trust the Process
It wasn’t much at this point, but I was working on setting up the basic wireframes that laid out the general format. I also worked on typography and spacing.
Formatting
From Prototype to Product
At this point of the process, it was close to launch date. I ensured every detail was perfect, down to the last pixel.
Nearing the End
But Where to Begin?
This project was very open-ended. It started with a simple idea that left leeway for its creation. And although this meant creative freedom, it also meant there was so foundation to fall on.
With this liberty, I started with sketches of my initial ideas for the website.

Timeline
The project started with an idea at the beginning of Summer 2023.
Early June – My supervisor brought up the issue of the weekly newsletter. The team decided that a website would be the best direction for a change in medium.
Late August – I settle on a design, using Canva to create the website. It was a free, sharable platform that my supervisor and I could both work on. Although limited in website features and abilities, it still kept the format of a scrollable e-newsletter that resembled the previous product.
The next two weeks I spent tirelessly on inputting the new information, while also creating a solid format for the website to follow.
Mid-August – After finishing previous projects, I start drafting low and high fidelity prototypes of the website.
September 6th – The website is launched!
